I want to be up front about everything.  First of all, I have Crohn’s Disease.  For those of you that don’t know, Crohn’s Disease can attack anywhere along the intestinal tract.  My Crohn’s Disease is at the point where the large intestine meets the small intestine and continues for approximately three centimeters.  I can no longer absorb B12, and so I need to get monthly injections.  Right now I am using Remicade infusions and azathioprine to treat my Crohn’s.

I am getting better.  Before last year, my Crohn’s was out of control and I would randomly lose 10 or 15 pounds in a week and then gain it back quickly.  I felt awful, but I didn’t recognize my weight problem or eating problems.

Starting this year, I am using proper food and exercise to maintain a healthy weight, instead of relying on an attack to lose extra pounds.  I’m getting married in about 17 months, and I want all of this to become a habit so I can enter into my marriage with a healthy way of life.

I guess many of you might be wondering how grossly overweight I am that I feel this strongly about losing some.  I promised the truth and here it is: I’m not morbidly obese.  I just want to be healthy, and right now I’m not.

Here are my stats:

I am 5’3″ (maybe 3 and a half)

I weigh 158 pounds

I carry the majority of my weight in my stomach and thighs, though my arms are a bit jiggly, too.

My goal: 135 pounds by May, able to feel energized throughout the day

My stretch goal: 125 pounds when I get married in 17 months.

I’ll get into goals and foods in my next post, but for now, this is me.

Thanks for reading,

Cyd
